About Polk County South Jail:
Polk County South Jail is located in Frostproof, Florida. Frostproof is 56 miles North of Orlando, Florida. The Jail officially opened in 2000 with the capability to house 1,008 male inmates. Seeing need for more room, Polka County expanded the jailhouse in 2010 so it could house 1,776 inmates. This expansion also included video visitation, giving inmates more flexibility as to when they talk to visitors.
