Montgomery County Jail is part of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in downtown Christianburg, Virginia. The town is located just 35 miles from Roanoke, and about 200 miles from the state capital of Richmond. Christianburg is named for Colonel William Christian, the brother-in-law of famed revolutionary Patrick Henry. Montgomery County is bordered on the west by New River, thought to be one of the oldest rivers in the world.
