Attorney Profile: Watsi graduated from Washington High School in 1994 and then obtained her Bachelors degree in Economics from North Carolina A&T State University in 1997, graduating summa cum laude after only 3 years of college. Achieving a life long goal of becoming an attorney, Watsi pursued and obtained her law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2000. Before opening the office of Watsi M. Sutton, P.A., Watsi served as a former prosecutor in the role of Assistant District Attorney for the 2nd Judicial District of North Carolina. In addition, Watsi worked as the Managing Attorney for the New Bern office of Legal Aid of North Carolina, a nonprofit law firm serving 80,000 low-income citizens of northeastern North Carolina, facing foreclosure, domestic violence, family disputes, unemployment claims and tenant evictions. Watsi has also worked in large and mid-sized Raleigh area firms, handling civil disputes on behalf of large corporate clients. Watsi believes in the power of one person to make a difference in our communities. She serves as a volunteer judge with the Beaufort County Teen Court, is a volunteer member of the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Beaufort County and Higher Heights Human Services Agency, and is a frequently speaker for local schools, youth organizations, and community groups in and around eastern North Carolina.
